Fresh from the latest harvest! Single-grove, consecutive-years award-winning extra virgin olive oil from Olivo's beautiful six-hectare olive grove nestled in the gorgeous Martinborough wine village in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. A Gold Medal winner once again, at the national Olives NZ awards. Cold-pressed from the renown Tuscan olive varieties of Frantoio and Leccino. Fruity aroma, creamy on the palate with hints of pepper, typical of Tuscan varieties. Medium intensity. Excellent simply drizzled on good crusty bread, tomato salads, soups, pastas and in egg preparations. For a surprisingly tasty pairing try it over umami flavours such as edamame, grilled tofu, sashimi and nutty earthy soba salads.
Olivo is the oldest commercial grove in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand, established in 1991 and has been awarded “Best Brand Award” by Olives New Zealand. Helen and John Meehan took over Olivo in 2003, expanded it, and has been producing and selling award-winning olive oil for over 20 years. Distinctive and complex tasting extra virgin olive oils made from olives grown at Olivo's grove, in the cool maritime micro-climate and green pasturelands of the region, different from traditional olive-growing countries. Olivo is available at high-end grocers in NZ, fine restaurants and from their own tasting room in Martinborough.
